We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician (Auto) to support the maintenance and reliability of mining equipment in a dynamic operational environment.


Role Purpose

You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on mining equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety compliance, and minimal operational downtime. You will work on drills, shovels, and associated support equipment while applying best practices in electrical maintenance and industrial safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on mining mobile equipment, including drills, shovels, and support equipment
  • Develop and maintain electrical distribution, generation, and transmission systems
  • Commission and maintain equipment in line with applicable legislation, regulations, and international standards
  • Read, interpret, and accurately record power meter readings and electrical measurements
  • Identify faults, diagnose problems, and report using correct technical terminology and equipment nomenclature
  • Support planning and scheduling activities within the work management process
  • Use CMMS/ERP systems to execute and document maintenance tasks effectively
  • Ensure quality of work aligns with organizational standards and industry best practices
  • Promote safe working practices and comply with all safety requirements at all times

Qualifications (Formal & Professional)

  • Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate
  • Electrical Trade Training / Apprenticeship Certification
  • MINCOM certification as Inspection Engineer is an added advantage
  • Participation in relevant career enhancement or technical development programs is desirable

Additional Knowledge Requirements

  • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and industry standards
  • Proven knowledge of maintaining drills, shovels, and mining support equipment
  • Understanding of work management processes
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling maintenance activities
  • Familiarity with CMMS/ERP systems

Experience

  • 1–5 years’ electrical maintenance experience in mining equipment maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in repairing and maintaining drills, shovels, and related mobile equipment is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose and report technical issues using correct engineering terminology
  • Ability to develop and maintain electrical systems and networks
  • Ability to accurately read and record electrical measurements and power data
  • Ability to commission and maintain equipment in compliance with regulations and safety standards
  • Ability to ensure quality control in line with organizational and international best practices
