We are seeking a proactive, results-oriented Energy Lead to champion our energy management strategy and lead initiatives that improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and support our sustainability commitments. This role will play a critical part in delivering our 2030 energy intensity and decarbonization targets while ensuring compliance with global standards and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and Deliver the Site Energy & GHG Reduction Strategy
- Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap to achieve the site’s 2030 energy intensity and GHG reduction targets in alignment with corporate sustainability objectives and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Establish measurable milestones, performance indicators, and implementation plans.
- Assess opportunities for renewable energy integration and low-carbon technologies.
- Monitor progress and continuously update the roadmap to reflect operational priorities and corporate requirements.
Monitor and Analyse Energy Performance
- Manage the site’s Energy Management System (EMS) to continuously monitor energy consumption.
- Analyse energy performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and communicate actionable insights to operational and leadership teams to support data-driven decision-making.
Lead Energy Efficiency Projects
- Identify energy-saving opportunities across utilities, equipment, production processes, and facility operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver energy improvement projects in collaboration with Maintenance, Engineering, and Process teams.
- Ensure the effective implementation of global energy standards and best practices across the site.
- Monitor project performance to achieve targeted energy and cost savings.
Drive Energy Management System Compliance
- Maintain compliance with corporate energy management requirements and applicable local energy regulations.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of an Energy Management System aligned with ISO 50001 principles.
- Coordinate energy audits, maintain required documentation, and support certification and regulatory compliance activities.
Build Energy Awareness and Capability
- Promote a culture of energy efficiency across the site.
- Deliver training programmes, workshops, and energy-focused Gemba walks for operators, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
- Lead and coordinate the site’s cross-functional energy team.
- Develop and manage employee engagement and recognition initiatives that promote energy and environmental awareness.
Report Energy Performance
- Prepare regular reports on energy consumption, energy intensity, savings achieved, project performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide accurate reporting to site leadership and corporate stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and performance monitoring.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
The Energy Lead will actively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Providing daily updates to Maintenance, Engineering, and Process teams on energy performance and ongoing initiatives.
- Presenting monthly performance reviews and improvement plans to Site Management and the Technical Manager.
- Working closely with the Global Energy Team to align site initiatives with global energy strategies and reporting requirements.
- Engaging suppliers and contractors to implement energy-efficient technologies and projects.
- Liaising with regulatory authorities and external auditors to maintain compliance with applicable energy regulations.
- Collaborating with external energy consultants to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
About You
You are an analytical and solutions-driven engineering professional with a passion for sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
You will bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, process improvement, or energy management within an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated success in delivering energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Experience developing and implementing CO₂ and energy reduction strategies aligned with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) objectives.
- Strong knowledge of industrial utilities, energy systems, HVAC, motors, metering systems, and renewable energy technologies.
- Experience using Energy Management Systems (EMS) and analysing energy performance data.
- Knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems and local energy regulations is an advantage.
- Proven project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- The ability to influence, coach, and engage employees at all levels of the organisation.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.
- Experience within the cocoa, chocolate, or food manufacturing industry will be considered an advantage.
