Job Summary
The Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. The successful candidate will use modern diagnostic equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and deliver high-quality repairs while maintaining excellent service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking, and drivetrain systems.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and scheduled servicing.
- Repair or replace defective mechanical components using approved tools and techniques.
- Conduct engine tune-ups and performance testing to ensure vehicles operate efficiently.
- Inspect and repair vehicle cooling, fuel, and exhaust systems as required.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical and electronic faults.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Advise customers on maintenance requirements and recommended repairs when necessary.
- Support colleagues and perform other mechanical duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma, or vocational qualification in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an automotive mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of petrol and diesel vehicle systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and repair specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s licence is an added advantage.
