This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional who enjoys solving complex electrical challenges and contributing to high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Installation & System Integration

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for heavy-duty vehicles and earth-moving machinery.
  • Install, terminate, and route complete Low Voltage (12V/24V) electrical wiring harnesses, including lighting, starting, charging, and control circuits.
  • Install and configure High Voltage (HV) electrical components, including electric-drive systems, hybrid powertrains, and high-capacity auxiliary systems, in line with manufacturer specifications.
  • Mount and connect electrical components such as alternators, starters, sensors, Electronic Control Units (ECUs), solenoids, and battery banks.
  • Support electrical retrofits and system upgrades on existing customer equipment where required.

Electrical Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Use diagnostic scanners, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment to identify and resolve electrical faults.
  • Troubleshoot CAN bus systems, communication networks, and electronic control modules.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring electrical issues and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Provide technical electrical support to the Servicing Department for equipment returned from branches or customer locations.

Testing, Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Perform comprehensive functional testing of electrical systems after assembly, including safety interlocks, warning systems, and emergency shutdown features.
  • Conduct insulation resistance testing and high-potential (hipot) testing on high-voltage circuits to ensure system safety and reliability.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets Zonda Tec’s quality standards and complies with international safety requirements, including applicable ISO and IEC standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, modifications, repairs, and test results for each machine.
  • Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash safety requirements, and high-voltage handling guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work environment within the assembly area.

Inventory & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor electrical component inventory levels and report requirements to prevent delays in assembly and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure availability of essential components such as cables, connectors, fuses, relays, and sensors.
  • Recommend cost-effective electrical solutions while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of an HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A valid Electrical Wiring Certification or Licensed Electrician credential from the Energy Commission of Ghana or an equivalent recognized professional body.
  • Certification or specialized training in High Voltage Systems, including EV/Hybrid safety training, will be an added advantage.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years’ practical experience in electrical systems, preferably within:
    • Heavy equipment assembly or manufacturing.
    • Automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems.
    • Industrial plant maintenance.
  • Proven experience working with Low Voltage (12V/24V DC) and High Voltage systems (up to 600V DC or 440V AC).
  • Hands-on experience with CAN bus diagnostics and electronic engine management systems.

Technical Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, industrial electrical principles, and control systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical faults.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices.

Working Conditions

  • Work in an assembly plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Stand for extended periods, climb on machinery, work in confined spaces, and handle tools/components weighing up to 25 kg.
  • Work from Monday to Saturday, with occasional overtime required during peak production periods.
