Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & System Integration
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for heavy-duty vehicles and earth-moving machinery.
- Install, terminate, and route complete Low Voltage (12V/24V) electrical wiring harnesses, including lighting, starting, charging, and control circuits.
- Install and configure High Voltage (HV) electrical components, including electric-drive systems, hybrid powertrains, and high-capacity auxiliary systems, in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Mount and connect electrical components such as alternators, starters, sensors, Electronic Control Units (ECUs), solenoids, and battery banks.
- Support electrical retrofits and system upgrades on existing customer equipment where required.
Electrical Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Use diagnostic scanners, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment to identify and resolve electrical faults.
- Troubleshoot CAN bus systems, communication networks, and electronic control modules.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring electrical issues and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Provide technical electrical support to the Servicing Department for equipment returned from branches or customer locations.
Testing, Safety & Quality Assurance
- Perform comprehensive functional testing of electrical systems after assembly, including safety interlocks, warning systems, and emergency shutdown features.
- Conduct insulation resistance testing and high-potential (hipot) testing on high-voltage circuits to ensure system safety and reliability.
- Ensure all electrical work meets Zonda Tec’s quality standards and complies with international safety requirements, including applicable ISO and IEC standards.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, modifications, repairs, and test results for each machine.
- Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash safety requirements, and high-voltage handling guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work environment within the assembly area.
Inventory & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor electrical component inventory levels and report requirements to prevent delays in assembly and maintenance activities.
- Ensure availability of essential components such as cables, connectors, fuses, relays, and sensors.
- Recommend cost-effective electrical solutions while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A minimum of an HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A valid Electrical Wiring Certification or Licensed Electrician credential from the Energy Commission of Ghana or an equivalent recognized professional body.
- Certification or specialized training in High Voltage Systems, including EV/Hybrid safety training, will be an added advantage.
- Four (4) to six (6) years’ practical experience in electrical systems, preferably within:
- Heavy equipment assembly or manufacturing.
- Automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems.
- Industrial plant maintenance.
- Proven experience working with Low Voltage (12V/24V DC) and High Voltage systems (up to 600V DC or 440V AC).
- Hands-on experience with CAN bus diagnostics and electronic engine management systems.
Technical Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, industrial electrical principles, and control systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical faults.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices.
Working Conditions
- Work in an assembly plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
- Stand for extended periods, climb on machinery, work in confined spaces, and handle tools/components weighing up to 25 kg.
- Work from Monday to Saturday, with occasional overtime required during peak production periods.
