We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated History Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will inspire students to appreciate the importance of history, develop critical thinking skills, and understand the connections between past events and the modern world.

Position Summary

The History Teacher will plan and deliver engaging history lessons that foster curiosity, analytical thinking, and historical understanding. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, assess student progress, and contribute to the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging History lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum.
  • Create an inclusive, stimulating, and learner-centred classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to analyse historical events, evaluate evidence, and develop independent thinking.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and educational technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Promote active participation through discussions, research projects, presentations, and collaborative learning activities.

Assessment and Student Progress

  • Develop and administer assignments, quizzes, tests, and examinations.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions where additional support is required.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and prepare student progress reports.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a respectful, safe, and disciplined classroom environment.
  • Foster positive relationships that encourage student engagement and participation.
  • Promote responsible behaviour and a culture of academic integrity.

Curriculum and Professional Development

  • Participate in curriculum planning, review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, and professional development programmes.
  • Keep up to date with current developments in history education and effective teaching practices.

Parent and School Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and academic development.
  • Participate actively in school events, extracurricular activities, and educational programmes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement and the school’s educational objectives.
  • Perform other teaching and administrative duties as assigned by school management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in History, History Education, Social Studies, Education, or a related discipline.
  • A recognised teaching qualification or professional teacher certification will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in History or Social Studies.
  • Experience teaching an international curriculum will be an added advantage.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of History and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Strong lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and assessment abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and educational technology tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic team.

  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and educational excellence.
