Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Laboratory Site Lead to oversee laboratory operations and drive excellence in diagnostic service delivery. In this role, you will lead a team of Biomedical Scientists, ensure compliance with quality standards, and support the continuous improvement of laboratory systems and processes.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality diagnostic services
  • Implement and monitor laboratory policies, procedures, and standards in line with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate and allocate tasks among Biomedical Scientists to ensure effective service delivery

Team Supervision

  • Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of Biomedical Scientists
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development and training initiatives
  • Participate in recruitment processes and workforce planning
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and growth-oriented work environment

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Implement and oversee internal and external quality control systems
  • Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with quality assurance standards
  • Enforce health and safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of specimens

Resource Management

  • Manage laboratory resources, including reagents, consumables, and equipment
  • Oversee procurement processes and maintain inventory levels
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Support budgeting and cost management activities

Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex laboratory challenges
  • Support the adoption of new diagnostic technologies and innovations
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives where applicable

Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain effective communication with hospital leadership and key stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit regular performance and operational reports
  • Coordinate laboratory tours and represent the department to external stakeholders

General Management

  • Contribute to the development of operational policies and customer care standards
  • Support laboratory audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote professional conduct and adherence to the Patient’s Charter

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Master’s degree or Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic techniques, quality assurance, and safety protocols
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory management and team leadership
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams effectively
