Position Summary
The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery to achieve daily production targets while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and operational procedures. The role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Operate production machinery in accordance with established operating procedures and safety standards.
- Set up machines before production runs and adjust machine settings to achieve optimal performance.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure products meet quality specifications and production targets.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify equipment faults, abnormalities, or maintenance needs.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and promptly report major faults to the maintenance team.
- Inspect finished products and remove defective items in accordance with quality control procedures.
- Accurately record production output, machine downtime, material usage, and operational data.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in line with workplace health and safety standards.
- Follow all company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and production team members to achieve operational goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of a Senior High School Certificate, Technical Certificate, NVTI qualification, HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Good understanding of machine operation, production processes, and workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to identify basic mechanical faults and perform routine machine adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good numerical, communication, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet production targets, and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and overtime where required.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude toward continuous learning.
